Okay, so i’ve finally decided on the thesis framework. (this site halfbaked, is how it appears raw and unedited, you can see my main site modified here http://solarcrash.com)
I was exploring Thematic, and some other frameworks at first (carrington, whiteboard, buffet, wp-framework) , but
felt that a lot of them were still glitchy and in beta stages. Thesis
seems to have reached the tipping point where the kinks have been
ironed out and there’s a large support community around it.
It’s powerful, but I think there’s definitely plenty of room for development going forward. Because so many people are on thesis though, I can feel comfortable that I can trust it’ll continue to get better as well… plus from what I hear it’s a major cash cow for pearsonified.
So to thematic, and all those other frameworks, I feel for you, please keep the competition up, but as for now Thesis has become the de facto framework standard.

this looks like every other thesis theme.
Gotta be honest. Thesis is popular because of the built in ‘dummy’ features for people new to web design. That’s the reason it took off so quickly. If you want a truly open framework going forward it needs to be free–this is the reason WP has gained so much momentum and has such a huge user base. And it’s the same reason Thematic, Hybrid, and other free frameworks will gain even more momentum in the future. And interesting, I notice the people in the Thematic forums really know their stuff and frequently are web designers by trade too-like me
Just saying. Really though, I was just looking at this, and personally, I’d chose either Hybrid (if you want paid support) or Thematic if you don’t need it. The reason is b/c I know the people behind each of those projects are truly EXCELLENT at what they do. And those are the people I want on team, so to speak.
To each his own. Thesis is good too. It’s one of the big three: Thesis, Thematic, and Hybrid. I’m glad your happy with it.
