I was considering using tumblr for a while, and was testing it out at http://solarcrash.tumblr.com
It limits you to a maximum of 5 different types of feeds, which was a bit sucky, but i was able to get around it by aggregating feeds through yahoo pipes.
In the end though, i’ve decided to stick with what I have going on at this site, halfbaked powered by wordpress and the lifestream plugin.
Tumblr’s a phenomenally simple service, and it’d probably be my site of choice if i didn’t have my own hosting account and domain. The interface is for the most part intuitive, though I thought in the name of simplicity some things got a bit confusing (ie. working with multiple accounts and customization buttons).
My other issues were that the feeds weren’t quite real time, the way it translated different feeds into the themes wasn’t very consistent or at least the way i liked it, while with this site, i have full ownership of content, and can control ads and other elements should i choose to do so. (i know I’ve spent zero time on making this site look decent, but it’s nice to know I have full power to do so).
Anyhow, with all that being said, i still think tumblr is a fantastic service that’s fairly well thought out.
